Why stitching fails

Sometimes the leather around the stitching is the real casualty — elongated or torn stitch holes — which changes the repair from restitching to reinforcement.

When it’s more than thread

Where stitch holes have torn through, we reinforce the leather from behind before restitching, and hand-finish where machines can’t reach. Stitching work often reveals related wear - strap attachment fatigue, edge coat breakdown - best addressed in the same visit.

A canvas and leather Zegna tote arrived with us needing genuine structural work - seams failing and panels stressed beyond what restitching alone could hold.
